Can't remember ever hearing or seeing about a buck like that in the Pogue. There was "moosey" from the Entiat back 10ish years ago though......

When I think of legendary bucks I think of bigger than big and notoriety.  Lots of nice bucks killed will never be legendary in my mind anyways.

I cannot for the life of me find an image of it but the Ward buck killed in Yakima by Robert Ward in 1936 is one that sticks in my mind. Robert was a relative of a coworker of mine.  The buck made the Eastmans deer tour and is one of the largest NT mule deer ever taken in WA state at a staggering 263 1/8"!

2012 had a desert buck posted that is pretty darn legendary.  Mass....mess....width....height.....     It was reported as scoring over 200.

263?

That's just stupid.

This entire thread has me rethinking all of those "200" muleys I've seen but not harvested over the years.
I'm sure they were all just like these monsters.     :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Saw some pictures of a Mission unit buck that scored well over 200" a while ago... I think there is a picture at Hooked On Toys in Wenatchee of some of that buck's sheds that got put on a shoulder mount. Can't remember the exact story on it, but I'm sure they'll know what you're talking about if you mention it.

I’ve seen the antlers, they are impressive.  It was shot where I hunt today, but there are not bucks like that up there anymore!  The other average buck he killed was “big”!

Man I love this thread.  This state has sure grown some impressive deer over the years!

Gary
One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted. If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job. ~ Jose Ortega y Gasset

While it’s certainly not legendary, my biggest buck did come from the NE corner of Washington.   I’ve hunted deer in many different states, but Washington was the biggest @183”.   I haven’t hunted Washington in years but will probably come back at some point to hunt the same mountains.
