where did start? Was just over a week ago and everything up high was still plush green. Down by the river it was browning up pretty good.

Closer to the river, not sure exactly but they’re calling it Moose creek, burning both sides of the river. I’m not familiar with that area yet so best I could tell from the maps was not too far West of the store, 8 miles I’m guessing. Blew up to 1000 acres before dark

A lot of good ground in there poised to burn. Stuff on the south side of the river is thick and un burned for a long time, could get big if it really takes hold. The weather doesn't look promising.

Almost 24,000 acres now, lost a chinook and two pilots on it yesterday afternoon, sad deal.

This was yesterday at North Fork. I moved to Salmon last month and made a trip to Missoula to do some shopping. The photo with the fence is the hillside right behind the store at NF but across the river. A little close for comfort.

Welcome neighbor! Yeah it’s crazy how close it is to the store, I sure hope they keep it on that side of the river.

They seem to be doing a good job of keeping on the other side of the river. There's going to be two points coming up here real quick that will make a difference. Right there at Wagonhammer/Bobcat Gulch area on the East, and Shoup area on the West. The river doglegs south a little there at Shoup and it turns right into the main trajectory of the fire there. If they can hold those two points they'll gain a lot. A lot of great, very productive ground has already gone up, it's too bad.

It's closing in fast, on the other side of the river.

Hasn't made it to Pine Creek yet. It's in the head of China Gulch this morning.
