SW WA fiberglass boat repair help
« on: July 23, 2022, 07:28:56 AM »
My dad is wanting me to poke around and finally find somewhere to fix up their old boat. It's a 1970s lund trihull fiberglass.
The transom got water logged once and is no longer encased in fiberglass. It's a plywood encased fiberglass transom and floor I believe. We need the transom cut out and a new one installed well and fiberglassed in like it should be and everything.
He wants me to find him a quote or two to have it done right.
Anyone out there can point me in the right direction?
Thank ya much!

I've contacted KC_Kracker. Not sure if he does body or not. He's in Oly and at least does motor work.

He doesn't do fiberglass work. Sorry.

Honestly,
If there is sentimental value, do the job together as a project...
If not, scrap it and buy a newer one in better shape one and fix it up.
.
I didn't look at where your going to use the boat, but tri-hulls are great boats on calm days, but when the chop comes up?

Yea, it's been a family boat since it was bought off the show room floor new. So yea, some hefty sentimental value. And fully aware of how tri hulls are in chop, just local lake boat for the most part. Probably not see water enough to make it worth the money to most folks. But the family really wants to get it fixed up. And unfortunately no one has anywhere near enough time to take on another project ourselves right now.
