on a roll now
« on: May 24, 2009, 10:52:32 AM »
got my first officially called in kill this morning  :whoo: in the exact same drainage as yesterday. very first set and into the third loop of calling this yote comes bouncing in at about 200 yards, as he jumps up on a stump to look for the sound i shut the call off and level my cross hairs on his forehead. 180 yards i pull the trigger and watch him flip off the stump. yee haw yote down, or so i thought. it takes me about ten minutes to get over there (creek is getting deeper) and when i do theres no dog behind the stump? no blood either, so i start lookin. i walk up and down this little area for about ten minutes and see nothing. then as im coming back to the stump about ten feet to my left i see ears and eyes looking at me, the darn thing was laying there watching me the whole time! i look at him and say"your not dead" im sure he never heard a human voice before and once he realised i saw him he jumped up and headed for the creek. i knew where he was gunna cross so i put my scope on the old log across the creek and when he was in the middle at about 80 yards i put one behind hie ear. i figured i musta wounded him the first time with the way he came off that stump but tere were no other wholes in him. i think i parted his hair and he jumped. i thought it was pretty neat the way he just layed there watching me, i musta walked by him twice before we locked eyes, smart little buggers

Congratulations on #1 and #2.

You beat me to the punch, getting the FX3 from Adnahoundsman. Another score.   Looks like the purchase has paid off handsomely.

You can buy salt cheap at Costco (I think it was 25# for $5) for drying your hides.
