Wet Side Public Land Archery Bull
«

Was able to connect with a great public land bull . After hearing news that the bull I had spent the last 2 seasons chasing was killed on some private property (likely over a pile of apples) It was game on and time to find some other bulls. After I initially located this bull and realized he had cows I knew trying to pull him away from his cows would be a difficult task at best. I quickly realized this guy's bugles were getting further away rather than closer and knew I would have to make a quick move to make this happen. We initially attempted to stalk in on this bull to close the gap but instantly realized it was way to thick and loud to make that happen. So I decided I would barn storm ahead busting branches and making as much noise as humanly possible and would stop and knock an arrow as soon as I could find myself a decent shooting lane. My partner than began to lay on the bugle tube and do some raking in attempt to capture the bulls attention. Within a few minutes I began to hear branches snapping and that distinct sound of antler clanking off of the the the surrounding fir trees and within no time was at full draw tracking this guy until he stepped in to a very narrow shooting window. It was a perfect 14 yard broadside double lung shot. The bull then slowly trotted off about 10 yards and was out of my site so I busted ahead through the thick reprod timber and found the bull looking back at me giving me a hard quarting away 10 yard shot . I placed my pin right behind his ribs and let the 2nd arrow fly. The bull then moved ahead another 5 yards or so but nowbthere was a mess of brush inbmy way so i busted through the wall of brush and the bull presented me with another identical shot so I let the third arrow fly and but this one was at roughly 7 yards and finally tipped him over, and it was lights out. The bull travelled in all about 20 yards or so after the 1st shot . I was still in shock from what just took place and even more so as I found myself looking down on a 300+ class roosie bull. This was my first bull using kudu point broadheads and they proved to be more than fatal even out of my old hoyt pulling 57lbs due to some shoulders badly in need of surgery. Big thanks to my partner who I have been mentoring the last few elk seasons for finishing the bugling and helping put this bull on the ground. And for another buddy who was returning the favor for me finding and calling in his bull just a few days earlier who flew up as soon as he heard "bull down" with a pack frame and loads of energy to get this bull down to the truck.

Now that the dust has settled a bit just getting time to look back at the post and figured I would add a few more pics. Mass on this bull is pretty impressive have not been able to get him scored yet and not good at guessing
