Scouting - Boot Print - Let's Talk
« on: October 19, 2022, 07:15:57 PM »
I came across this boot print last Saturday while checking out the area in the Bumping unit where my friends and family have hunted the modern firearm elk season for almost two decades.

Approximately size 10.5.  Newer Vibram tread.

If you're the one that came off the ridgeline and flagged a stream crossing with orange tape near a small log jam, poked around a bit and then headed back up, I'd like to have a conversation with you...and perhaps an offer.

Thanks.

You know public land hunting is getting crowded when…..

Honestly that’s down the line with what I was thinking when I saw this post.

How much to stay out of your hunting area? $1000 and you have a deal  :chuckle:

Kind of why I asked. I know there got to be quite a problem above CleElum (among other area's) with people setting up 'permanent' camps year around, even though they were not in them. It was getting pretty heated at times.

Well, still public.

True, of course.  Just trying to keep someone's hope balloon from getting popped.

I tracked him around and it was pretty clear he was new to the area and bound to mess things up, like the dumb*donkey smoker did a couple years back that's lucky he still has teeth.

That said, if a guy is willing to put in that kind of work, I'd rather he team up with me/us than [bleep] it up for everyone.

He can't be scrwing to much up if you were cutting his tracks. In that logic you both might need to rethink your routes  :chuckle:

Except...Your premise is illogical.  ;)

It's easy to cut someone's track if they are wandering around all over the place aimlessly.

There's a right way to access the area, scout it, and hunt it.  And then there's the Family Circus approach...  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :bdid:

Maybe the man who laid that track knows exactly what he is doing. More than one way to skin a cat.  Pretty tough to get in the mind of a man you’ve never met. Could be he’s new to the area, could be he knows something you don’t.
