I always ike it when the "Ive been hunting this area for 30 years!"  people come to my area.  They come around durring hunting season, and maybe the week before, and think they know the area well.  But it changes every year, I live and work here.  This year it went, "Man, Ive never seen it so dry here, havent even seena doe yet,  its getting worse every year."  But living here, I see deer all the time, even the big bucks.

But with that said, I'd guess IF this guy was new to the area, and who really knows, he'd probably like to know information about the area, but in my expereince, it ussually goes the other way. Haven't come across to many folks who were willing to give up their honey hole lol.

If you ever find yourself where I live and hunt, I'd be glad to share what I  know.

Happy Hunting!

I made that boot print

maybe not that particular one, but I've been those boot prints in a lot of new areas these last few years.

I get into areas that people have been hunting for generations, years, and I step all up in it

I've had those guys come up to me that "own" that knob, drainage whatever.   "join us, or leave us"   so the conversation invariably goes, "what is your plan?"  and each and every time they'd send us on a wild goose chase (or bird dog for them)

The last guys in Idaho we talked too wanted to send us to a ridge that had a whole big group from California camping right on it, they'd cut trails in with saws and were in there morning and evening, bugling to beat the band, omg non-stop on the trumpet.

They had long since blown everything out of that ridge, yet kept hunting it.   We knew this because we'd already checked it out before the Idaho guys told us to go there "huge bull hangs on the top, cows go down over the sides mornings and evening and have 3 or 4 rags with em"

Ya,

We did think it was hella funny they'd send a couple Washington guys to hunt with the Californians   :chuckle:   :chuckle:     :chuckle:
at least they didn't slash our tires I guess

Maybe you're more magnanimous then those Idaho guys, and would give the guy who made that boot track the best hunt in "your" area...but if I were that guy and got approached by you, ya no. There's not a fat chance that I would gamble on your generosity

I do your hunt your way

Gotta remember it's coming from the same guy who told the forum to not bother buying any goat raffle tickets few years back because somebody had dumped a ton in on it and they wouldn't even have a chance anyways.........ended up being him and funniest thing of all he didn't even draw. Karma

I sure wish that was my vibram track.

This post should get interesting. I can only imagine how I would act if another hunter came up to me as this post was presented.  :chuckle:

You wouldn't be appreciative if someone gave you intel that you otherwise did not have....Like, when you approach from the south on this ridge...you are walking through the bedding area.  Approach from the North or East and the herd will walk by you if you are patient enough?  I suppose being new to an area and knowing all there is to know about an area makes you a better hunter than the guy(s) that have hunted it for many years prior to your showing up.

Maybe I am misreading the OP's post, but that is what happened in our instance and most hunters were very appreciative.  Hell one hunter, a young guy actually got to sling an arrow in the following days (he missed) but he was super excited he got that intel.

 :yeah:

At the risk of being redundant...this Jrebel guy gets it.

Also...at no point did I ever claim it as my own.  In fact, I inferred the exact opposite by pointing out that it was in a wilderness area (i.e., public),  which doesn't automatically absolve people of using common sense and/or adhering to common decency.

That’s pretty chicken scat, dismissing his points by taking snarky shots at his typing. Dude, get over yourself. You’ve been making snarky post and going on and on for years about how hardcore you are and how you are some sort of mountain guru and in general how you’re heads and shoulders above everyone  else.  I sure hope when you walk around in reality , you don’t talk to people in your condescending manner. Rude.

No, I just have a memory, bud. But you just keep stroking your ego. You’d like that, the idea of someone thinking about ya. But, sadly, I just have a pretty decent memory and I know a blowhard when I hear one.

Soooo spacious. Bit of an echo chamber, but comfortable and the price is right.  Yawn. Stretch. Thanks.
