Low 170’s, special permit, he’s walking. But everyone is different, every situation is different. It’s not as easy as shoot or dont shoot.

I'm calling BS on everyone saying they are passing on a low to mid 180's buck. That buck is a smoker of the first order.
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

Oregon or Washington?
Since it's Bone, it's a WA deer.

I think that buck is as good as he is going to be...looks like an older buck to me. Shoot now or forever hold your peace.

You guys are better hunters than I am.

I don’t care what tag I’m holding.  If I stumble onto that buck, he’s the one!  That’s a gorgeous representative of the species that I’d be proud to bring home.

OK Bone.... What would you do?

DRT, any tag in this state.   I’d love to see what he looks like next year, but it’s guaranteed that you won’t have the tag again.

I see a lot of scores tossed around here on this site on other threads which generally generate a smirk or two. That’s a true 180 buck, and they don’t grow on trees around here.

I’d be cutting triangles.

I didn’t get to see much of his body.   He was very sneaky and shy.  Even with the rut. So based on little info,  I’m guessing 5.5 so he is close to prime.  5.5 and 6.5 are generally best years, at least for width and height.  Mass May increase, non typical points,   If he is 4.5, look out next year.

Reading through the comments I was thinking I might be missing something. To me that buck looks over 180 all day and there isn’t a tag in Washington I wouldn’t hang on him and be proud that I did the tag justice.

Any thoughts on, about, how wide he is?  If I had to guess, 25-26 inches.

Not a keyboard warrior. I said I am shooting all day everytime any weapon general. I also underestimated his score and if the experts are saying 180 + I totally believe it. I dont spend an ounce of time on numbers in my decision shoot or pass. So I defer when it comes to that. For me its more about the "it" factor that I like in a deer. Heavy, dark, character, bold eyegaurds. Not nitpicking. Just preference. If i saw the first buck from "sharing a bed", " alot going on" or even "baby groucho" i am getting excited. I am not picky and recognize this buck is a giant, but if shopping with lotto money, I may not pick him based on numbers alone, thats all. Guess i should have put some context to my original comment.

Since I've never killed a Wa mule, he's gonna at least get shot at.
