Recommendations for a winch?

Do your best to stay away from communist manufactured goods.  Warn makes much better winches you have to watch them too, though.

Warn "assembled in US" winches are over $2000.   Warn does employ 400 in Oregon though so good to support them with their VR (china) line which is still double the cost of the Harbor Freight Line.

I don't like winch cradles, they tend to bend when pulling at odd angles and put a lot of leverage on your frame stubs.

I have the Badland Apex 12000 with the synthetic wire rope and mounted it on a portable mount from Amazon so it fits the receiver hitch front and rear on my F350. Has the wireless remote and the wired remote. Haven't had to use it on the FORD yet 

Do you keep the winch in a truck box or does it live in one of the receivers full time? I don't want to do a full winch bumper for my Ram but this sounds like a good setup.

Stays locked in the front receiver during hunting season then I remove it and it goes back in the garage.

Badlands harbor freight 12000 lbs winch is what I own. Never a problem. I do use a thimble instead of a hook. A pass block or a haywire block is a huge step up. I’ve logged a long time, and I still don’t know what the hell a snatch block is.  Hi lift jack is almost worthless. Air down the tires

Snatch lock no different than a pulley also properly rigged doubles your pulling power , and too say a high lift is worthless is laughable  used for recovery for decades , and other than a winch can save your bacon anytime used properly

Used to use the highlift a lot - jack up rear of jeep - shove off to side out of ruts and pray you didn’t get hurt.   Used as a winch for 3 foot pulls too.  Get a winch!

Most Diesel trucks have a hard time finding room in the bumper due to the intercooler.

We have 2 Sparky trucks w/ winches, both use front receivers

Our anchor strap's are generally rated 3 to 4 times stronger than the winch rating. Generally an 8'-12' chunk of 3" or 4"  web.

You do not want a fail point to launch a block at you
