Its a tough draw for a resident (2% chance), very tough for a NR.  It got way to much attention when the Stuck in the Rut boys drew it and put their hunt all over YouTube.  You can hunt with a rifle in the rut, you should be able to get a bull if you get drawn.  Their are better controlled hunts to put in for with better draw odds in my opinion.

Good bulls are killed in the panhandle in every otc season. So a controlled hunt from sept to dec could provide opportunity to do well. Though you would he dealing with the same pressure of general archery and rifle seasons along with it. I feel like it would be a very good hunt for someone with lots of time and knowledge of the area.
Odds aren't great to draw but someone has to win.

With that in mind it's a good choice for you, there are some good bulls scattered all over north Idaho and you will have an advantage during the rut.

I have put in for it but never drawn. Rifle in the rut would be pretty awesome and the length of season is ridiculous . It would be a fun tag.  With that said, There are WAY better units for trophy quality with better odds in Idaho. Nice to be close to home though
