Neah Bay Jetty?
« on: July 09, 2023, 10:50:26 PM »
As a kid I grew up fishing Neah Bay every year. I never saw anyone fishing off the jetty. We would take our boat around to the outside and cast for black bass there and do good. I always wondered why people don’t fish it from shore? And if you’re not allowed to fish from shore could you launch a kayak off the jetty and just fish along the kelp beds with it?

Thanks in advanced 🤙🏻

We would take our boat to the outside of the jetty and cast whole herring towards the jetty. BIG ling cod live in the caverns that the huge boulders create......then cast 6 inch curly tail one ounce jig (white) for the bass...Great times.
Thanks for all for your past support...We officially pulled the plug and have retired from the Biz. Still dabble a little in real estate.

You could launch a kayak from the jetty parking lot and probably get some bass out in the bay. I've seen a few kayak guys this year fishing...just watch out for all us big boat jerks... :chuckle: And Obviously weather dependant. I guess it's possible to hook into a couple casting, but it's pretty shallow right off the rocks
And it's a long long walk out to Waadah island.

Or you could holler at me if u ever want a boat ride. I may or may not spend allot of time out there.. :o

Is it a legal thing fishing from the jetty because it’s on tribal land? If so can you get a license?

You'll have to swing into big salmon and buy the makah rec pass. As far as I know there's no issues fishing from the beach... just follow the state regs.

Haven't been out there in years but you were supposed to buy a combo license for parking on the Rez and a Makah fishing license. I bought mine at their large grocery store.

I have speared on it quite a few times.  The Blacks are not big like other inshore areas in area four and what Lings you catch will be on the small side.  It is a very popular place for shore bound spearos and is best hit when Lings open in spring.
