Fire Season - Potential Closures
« on: July 18, 2023, 01:14:32 PM »
Made some quick scouting trips out to some bear spots i've had success in the past and ran into one of the timber managers for that area. He mentioned that they would be closing down recreation access starting 7/28 for high fire danger and pending some act of God with early rain they probably wouldn't be opening it anytime soon.

Was pretty bummed but it also gives me some time to focus more on state/federal land rather than driving up 8/1 and seeing a giant "closed - high fire level" sign. Anyways - what are ya'lls thoughts on this year for the fire level and access? Would love to get other perspectives on the summer from others around the state

I don’t blame them I guess, camped at KOA last weekend and we were able to have a campfire.

Fire level on the west side on forest service land is very high and they are in a camp fire restriction right now so don't think we are the west side is doing nay better.

I have been worried about the fire dangers. Thinking about just going high to the huckleberries. Makes it to where I don't have to worry about it. Plus I can snack all day long and bring home muffin fillings. Those little tasty treats are something I look forward to every year.
