Pinks
« on: July 22, 2023, 11:40:57 PM »
Anyone getting them?  I was thinking of heading to Hoodsport or Tacoma one day this next week.  Anyone doing any good, will probably be shore fishing.  If anyone has any recommendations please let me know

The creel reports only show a few being caught in the strait.  But this is Pink week, this last week of July is usually when they start showing up everywhere.

They were being caught out in Nea Bay this weekend.  Getting closer.  I am sure some are in the area.
Cut em!

I'll be keeping an eye out, first time in a long time we'll go after them in the sound.  Great opportunity for kids

Hasn't been that way in a loooooong time.

They always counted, but there were years when we could catch two bonus pinks, so up to four total.  We had that as late as 2015, but 2017 was a poor pink year and we haven't had the bonus fish since.

LMAO... ain't nothin' wrong with Pinks.  Great way for kids to get to catch a decent sized fish and have fun.

If you plan to bbq pink after freezing. Fillet skin off of fillets before vaccum sealing. You will thank me later. Huge difference in quality of the salmon. They are pretty good and very mild flavor. Will eat nice fresh ones any day of the week.
Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.

Centain many folks couldn't tell the difference between ocean humpies and other salmon if they are cooked well and prepared a myriad of ways other than baked. Usually the river guys give em a bad name.
