Just Back from Idaho
« on: November 20, 2007, 12:00:29 AM »
Well we got back from Idaho late Saturday night after a week of hunting.

The weather was not on our side it was 15-20 degrees warmer than usual which made me skeptical how the week would pan out since this is a weather dependant hunt and one of only a couple places in the world that whitetails migrate like muleys so snow in the high country is a must.

After a 2 1/2 mile hike this made a nice lunch time view.

The first day I saw a beautiful big black bear with a Cinnamon diamond on his chest just too bad it wasn't open he was safe for now .. nothing but does the first day. Day two only brought more does and a cow moose pretty cool to see though, and I found these shed horns and figured as bleek as it looked at least I would have horn soup! :chuckle:

Dave was the first to score and this is what happens in my camp by tradition when you score you get to drink the top shelf stuff straight! Pendleton to be exact it's a good problem to have eh! :P

Jake got into the act also grunting in his first buck and dragging it out 1mile uphill ... Way to go Jake!

We did all right as a group with 5 out of 8 harvesting bucks even though conditions weren't the best, As for me with a bull in the freezer I was going to be picky, I saw only 11 deer the whole week and four bucks with only one that I would have shot but I gave the shot up to Jake while I was mentoring him. Too bad he couldn't pick it out in his scope before it got away but I'm glad he did finally score his first whitetail. 8)
Here is the final tally of bucks, looks like a good ol days photo huh?

And just for fun this was the bench mark I was trying to beat, my 05 buck from the same area.

It was a fun trip and we allways look forward to seeing our friends from Nampa they are the nicest bunch of guys you could meet, Thanks Dave, Josh & Will for having us at camp again!

Looks like it huh? I'll have to ask I'm not sure what he shoots that was one of our friends from Nampa. I know the one second from the left believe it or not he uses a 338 for everything, he just doesnt like changeing. I personally use a 300 which many say is too much for deer but it's all I have really and another thing those migratory whitetails are TUFF!
