I would go ahead and try the 200 grain. I don't think it's a waste of time at all. You should be able to get very respectable velocities and there will be no significant difference in trajectory between the 200 grain and a 180 grain. The 200 grain in 30 caliber is good in that it has a very high ballistic coefficient. That will help it to buck the wind better than a lighter bullet.
