Kalama River theft and vandalism
« on: April 10, 2024, 07:05:21 AM »
Its been awhile since I fished the Kalama River. About the time I stopped there was a lot of theft and vandalism to rigs parked along the river. Any idea if this situation has changed?

Thanks
Terry

Has not changed, leave your truck empty.

I would also say remove any paperwork and registration. If they know where you live, they know you are not home. When my truck was broken into a person was at my house within 45 minutes and luckily my son was home to deal with it if they decided to do anything.

Sad to hear. I was hoping that situation had changed.

That should be a thread in itself. No paperwork, no garage/gate openers, etc. left in rig.

Guys and gals,

What 3boys and Wapititalk both mentioned is spot on and solid advise. "If they know where you live, they know you are not home" As someone who frequently leaves a truck and trailer at various boat launches around the state I never leave any documents in the vehicle. I've been broke into too many times. Documents exit the truck and go in a ziplock under the seat of the boat. I also apply this rule with my crab pot buoys. WDFW requires your name and permanent address written on them usually. I apply my name and Wild ID# only. WDFW can get anything they need from those two pieces of info. If your gear is fishing you are probably doing so too and most likely far away from your un-occupied residence while doing so.

Leave nothing of value and insure what stays behind.  :twocents:

I’ve always thought a retired guy could easily make some decent money by parking at one of those parking lots and watch people stuff.  Put on a safety vest and a folding sign saying “volunteer security”, donations accepted!  Read a book and hang out for 4-5 hours.
