The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

Then CO shouldn't need to transplant any woofs, they're already there.

I was just about to post this also. I would question whether someone is trapping and relocating wolves under the radar. Curious if we see more of this in the future.  :dunno:

This isn’t new. Check out the OR-7 wolf from Oregon. That wolf travelled 1200 miles.

It’s certainly possible that it traveled to Minnesota on its own, but doesn’t seem likely. That’s a lot of interstates, fences, fields to cross. Then to get caught in a random farmers set…

It is possible that the wolf made it all the way from the Great Lakes to Elbert County on its own. Gray wolves are known to roam, and in 2023, researchers tracked a collared wolf from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula that traveled more than 4,000 miles over an 18-month period.”

The closest Great Lakes wolves to where this one was trapped is 900 miles as the crow flies.

Not likely, fair bit of dense people farm ground along that 900 mile line.  More likely some person from Michigan brought a wolf pup when they moved to Oregon and kicked it loose when it grew out of cute.
