HEADS UP ON OPTICS PLANET
« on: April 26, 2024, 03:49:19 AM »
Im sure this has come up before on here but just want to give another heads up

Ordered an optic that was listed as in stock on 4/10. Charged my card on 4/11. Get an email on 4/15 that says my item wont be available until end of June. My status since 4/10 says processing and packaging for shipment. I call on 4/15 and talk to C.S. and want to cancel my order but am told its too late because its in process. I politely tell her that she and I both know they dont have the item and please refund. She said no so I asked to talk to a manager and she said no. I called back on 4/16 and got ahold of a manager and got approved for the cancelation. Got my card credited back today

Bottom line is they said it was in stock when they knew it wasnt, charged my card and wouldnt let me cancel because it was in process but still wasnt getting the item in their hands for over a month. I have had good dealings with them in the past but wont be buying anything from them again

Ive seen several posts on different forums about this issue with Optics Planet. Its nothing new. I avoid them because of their reputation.

If it's a low-priority item, like for a rifle build on the cheap, I'll take a look at OP.

Otherwise, there's better places to order from. Not necessarily cheaper though.

I loved optics planet…..until I had this exact thing happen to me a couple years ago.   Won’t buy from them again after that experience.  Horrible customer service.

Interesting.

I've ordered lots of stuff from them over the years, including very recently.
I've never had an issue with them.
Sorry to hear about this.

Dan-0 not a huge deal. I just wanted folks here to know the risks. I would bet 99.9% of the time there would be no issues but personally, I wont take the chance with them.

I appreciate that.
I'm always a little leery of online sales, but felt like they were a safe supplier.

This is really sad to see, Optics Planet use to be a very good online source.
I have heard of a lot of similar happenings with them in the last couple years.
They were a good source once. Would not take the chance on them now.
Amazing how fast they fall from grace.

I was very happy with them, my NF order wasn’t in stock and they called the next day to offer a comparable Leupold.. I accepted and it was shipped right away. I guess it depends on what they have in stock or access to.
I’m happy with their customer support, maybe I got lucky.
