I shot this Ritzville buck in 05.

I had to get permission to hunt on private land. Most of it is.

While scouting in August I drove around with an ice chest full of watermelons giving them to farmers I talked to.  Nice folks.

I hunted the east side of the unit but now wish I had scouted the western side.  I'm hearing big bucks there.

It looks like you did pretty good on the eastside, atleast I would be happy with that deer.

Ok,  since you ask and it's about Washington.

Here is my set up for the shot.  It rained hard earlier and the air was wet for a wicked bullet trail right to the deer.
Rem 700 338 Win shooting 180 Accubonds.
Distance 300 yards.

Here's another pic I pulled up.

Blurry but shows the buck in the back ground down after he was shot.
He's that brown blob on the opposite hillside.

That buck must not have had much there to rub the velvet off his antlers.

Yeah,  that's what I thought after he was down and that was a late in November hunt.

Thats crazy, my Ritzville B tag in '05 had same issue. Velvet irritated his antler. Only this one really screwed up the one side trying to get it off.

a lot of the mule deer we shoot in that wheat country still have pretty good amount of velvet on them.
