Bear with the boys
« on: September 18, 2024, 06:50:50 AM »
Momma went out of town yesterday so I loaded up the kiddos and went out to go glass for deer. My 4 year old goes with me all the time but yesterday was the first time my youngest has gone out. Sitting on an old road watching some deer when all of a sudden I picked up a couple bears cruising around 800 yards out. Drove around and eventually cut the distance to 335. Set up for a quick shot and drilled him, watched him run about 10-20 yards and then heard the moans. I then realized I was not in a good situation to try and track a bear in the thick stuff with the kiddos, met a group of folks and they dropped everything they were doing to help me recover the bear. Short track job and rolled him down to the truck. Happy dad moment and a punched tag!

That's great that you are still getting out and hunting with the kiddos.  Also great that you were able to find others willing to assist when needed.  Nice bear.

Outstanding work sir!

Awesome job Dad! I have two boys (10 and 11 now), and love the times I've had with them hunting! Good memories and nice bear!
When I inevitably choke to death on gummy bears, I’d simply like it said that I was “killed by bears”, and leave it at that

Appreciate it guys!
Trying to plant the seed early with these two. My oldest is obsessed with hunting and fishing. Looking forward to all the future adventures. Hope you all have a great season this year!

The little guy looks like he would tell his mom that he had just seen the biggest black lab in his life! Congrats and good looking, happy boys. Dad looks happy too!

It always surprises me how I can plan a big hunt and go and everything goes as hoped
And it’s the hunt that I just throw together and go for it with the kids , tag filled or not, that make the most fun and memorable
