--- One of the Baddest Bulls I have ever seen came right from the Middle of the margarat, the big ones your not going to find right of the roads though! Don't let people disscourage you into thinking its all 5Pt's and small 6is because if you scout you will find nice bulls, maybee not Boone and Crockett record breakers but definitely a wall hanger!

SI Eagle - Did you and your son have any success?  Show some pictures and the rest of the story - lots of folks would love to hear success in Margaret.

This tag is a great tag but also needs to be taken very serious because settling for a dink on the last day is not far fetched.  Believe me, you will see plenty of bulls, majority of which will be like the one that has be posted but a lot more smaller ones.  The thing you need to realize is you are hunting these bulls long after the rut and any bull that would be considered a monster will be far away from any herd and held up in the thick stuff.  Believe me, i live next door the this unit and have my whole life and have seen great animals there, but believing the hype and not taking it serious will just give you a filled tag.  Do yourself a favor, get in shape go way deeper than the next guy because if there was a tag that meant hard work will pay off it is this one.  Good luck and kill a big one.  By the way how many points did you have?

I got drawn for it last year and got a 5 x 5. Another hunter that was near us when I shot mine came over and shot a 4 x 5 that was hanging with the one I shot. He posted his pictures on here last year. The elk are everywhere in the unit but you will see the most at the most eastern end of the unit. The trees have not grown up as much from the blast so you can see a lot more.
The unit will probably be open for you to drive in it when your season starts and maybe a little before it. I would spend as much time as possible driving the roads and going on hikes at any good looking spots.
Eco Park is where a lot of hunters stay and is next to the unit. It can be hard to get hold of them to get a spot but it still fills up fast.
I will be with a friend for the Archery hunt this year in that unit as he got one of those 7 tags.

TntKlundt. That's a dandy bull for sure. That is not your average westside general unit bull. I don't care what anybody says. He ain't no rag horn. I get tired of the guys on here who say the Margaret tag is a waste of points. Well done.
Can't we all just get along?

I would go in a bit farther south than the 2612.  Take the Nordic trail in, it takes you past Grizzly lake, and on into the other lakes and valleys there.

Huntbear, I think you mean the Norway Pass Trailhead, to the Lakes Trail... ;)

Another thing that you'll need to consider about hunting up there is the amount of snow in mid-November that you may encounter...It could be pretty substantial.

Yea that is the one JoeVon..... someone called it that telling me about it, and that is all I have ever called it....  and the snow will bury you in a hurry up there once it starts...
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Bucklucky, just cause you got your nuts off on a big blues bull.. about said blue balls..lol but its definatley not like the earley 90's but their are some toads in their.. I would be pumped to draw Margret.. for west side in SW its a mighty fine tag.. Just do your home work..

If you listen to Bucklucky on these westside units your hunt would make you  :cryriver:! So dont buy into it.. Scout and you will have a hunt of a life time.. Be patient..

 :hello: bucklucky!! ..
