Waterproof GPS screens
« on: November 22, 2024, 11:00:22 AM »
I am wanting to get a screen for the boat that its only real function needs to be running google maps or OnX if that is even possible.  I don't care about fish finding or even depth finding.  I just want to have a quality screen running a map with gps feature.  Is this even a thing?   Right now, I just hold my phone and drive in the night, but I am kind of getting tired of that.  Or some sort of screen that I can hook my phone into to see it larger on the boat dash.  Any ideas?

Lowrance used to make one geared for the off-road racing crowd. I don’t know if they still make it, or not.

A simple mfd fishfinder/chartplotter will be the only thing waterproof. I'm assuming this is a duck hunting boat.

Yep.  I just want a 7”-10” screen to mount on top of my center console war eagle that I can use Apple/car play on.   Will be using onX and Google maps only to run the rivers using satellite view.   Don’t care about water depth or any other normal boat electronic needs.

Sounds like you just want to use your cell phone or a laptop. Maybe spent some $$$$ on a waterproof grade outdoor laptop??

They make waterproof tablets. And yes they are waterproof. I have seen them on boats before. They paired it with their sonar so they did get depth too, but you wouldn't have to worry about that if you did not need that. Just use the maps app or Google Earth app.

Most Iphones since the 12 are waterproof. Get the OnX app for your phone.
