Spruce grouse, I have yet to find a bird more stupid than them, You can kill them with a rock, if you miss they usually won't fly but just stand there.  One time there were 7 or 8 in a tree and 2 of us used a 22 pistol and took turns head shooting our limits. No wonder you don't see very many of them anyone.

HoofsandWings:
Good luck along the PCT Tuesday.

To everyone else...shoot and scoot.
Come this Labor Day weekend, be sure and take care with your shots because there will be a lot of hikers and other recreationists out in the woods, and most of them will NOT be wearing any kind of fluorescent orange.
Thanks Dave, on Sunday I will be trying out your honey hole at Snoqualmie Pass. I have been there before, but now I think I should be hunting that grove to the west of the road by the pond. I am hoping there are some pickable berries too.
Gathering is easy. Hunting is a challenge.

I have been seeing grouse all over, and yesterday I was out all day only to see one bull elk and one rabbit (that I did not get a shot at)

Need some wet weather me thinks.
