I would put him at 32” greatest spread
27”inside

Assuming 22”  between his ear tips in this pose

What's so controversial?

Peoples guesses or opinions. Controversial probably isn’t the right word. Piggy backing on the guess the score threads

That’s a killer whitetail. I’ve only seen one thirty inch whitey.   A great memory with my Dad.

Did you get beam measurements on that WT Teacherman? Anything over 24” wide for whitetails is usually a rare sight, that’s pretty dang awesome!

I see...

I have always gone by the rule of 7's on a mature old mule deer.  7" in between base of each ear and 7" ear with when in the alert position like the picture above.  After that, its all a guessing game that gets awfully convolute depending on the angle in which you are looking at the animal.  Very seldom are you getting a good face on square look.

I would put this buck at 25-26 inside spread (conservatively) and give him an outside spread with kicker of 30-32".

At the end of the day, it wouldn't make two craps difference......It could be a 24" outside spread and with his point, height and character....It would be on my wall.

Here is my widest buck.....anyone want to take a guess that doesn't remember from the original post many years ago.   :dunno:

Because he is dead....his ears are completely flat.  This changes my rule of 7's.

I’d go 33” outside. On the original buck posted.

I figured between 32 and 34.  Similiar thoughts I figured 23 across ears but perked up like that probably 21ish.  Add 4 inches a side for the main frame, and the sticker is likely 5 or so.

I did, he didn’t score high because of shorter times. But he does having matching drop tines, 7.5” and 7”. And I know he’s crazy wide!!! Currently 25.25”. He was harvested in 2023 by my daughter.

That’s pretty dang awesome! That’s what we always seem to find with Idaho whitetails, they’re either wide and short or narrow and tall. Beautiful buck either way!
