Rifle is a Seekins precision, havak element. 7mm prc. Topped with a night force nx8 4-32. Rolled this bear at 675 yards. Its been a touchy gun. After 2 shots it doesn't group for crap. 1.5-2"  if I wait 10+ minutes between shots and let it completely cool it shoots 1/2 inch. Talked to seekins and now that bear season is over it's going back to get looked at.

Not in that higher end world of "custom" rifles.....but can see why it would be a concern. Accurate enough to deliver a kill at 675 yards but doesn't group well after the first two shots (at a certain range distance). But if the first two shots from a cold barrel are amazingly accurate, and the rifle is intended for hunting, do I need it to be that accurate for a third or more shots, when I'll probably never need a third shot? There was a thread recently that went on for pages over a similar situation. Maybe a conclusion was reached? Good luck in getting it figured out.

Yup, you're correct. Its a hunting rifle and I don't care about shooting groups. What is frustrating is trying to work on a hand load. I was trying to get the berger 175s and 180s to shoot and was at my wits end! I had over 140 rounds down the pipe before I realized I could only get one or two shots before I had to wait 10 minutes. Not a fan of spending an hour at the range to shoot 6 shots. Also nobody else with this rifle has the issue. Sounds like I got a lemon by comparison. I think I'll get it figured out. Seekins has a reputation for top notch customer service.

These accuracy scenarios and issues are very interesting. I bought a Remington 700 Long Range in Missoula (for hunting in the 300-400 yard range) which turned out to be very accurate. The only thing holding it back is the power of the scope 2-10x42.....which is barely OK at 300 yards due to a minimal sight picture, but can still put 3 holes in paper at under an inch at that distance. Not sure how well the rifle will perform beyond 300 yards but seeing the actual performance of a 4-32x50 scope at longer distances (675 yards) does make you wonder.
