Couple of late season bucks.
« on: November 24, 2007, 09:30:04 PM »
Dad tagged out the first evening of the hunt. The first morning was foggy so we drove to the top to try to get out of the fog. No luck so we cut some fire wood and finished setting up camp.

Dad spotted his buck two hours before he was able to finish the deal. After a couple of unsuccesful stalks he shot his deer just before dark.

I hunted for 4 more days going high and low, and ended up shooting my "managment" buck with 30 minutes to go the last day. I actualy became frustrated at the lack of decent bucks and decided to go home a day early.  I would not have shot a this small of a buck but a friend at home wanted the meat.

The Idaho plates allow us to ride the county roads in Idaho. We still have to buy a off road permit for the trails. We only live about 30 minutes from the Idaho border. Idaho private land and the USFS are a lot more liberal compared to Wa.

That's cool!  Looks like you saved the entire hide on your buck.  A lot of people would pay good money for that.

This is the first time I saved the hide. I "donated" it to the local taxi. I hope to have a coyote mounted this winter, so it should pay off.
