Another Cam bites the dust.
« on: March 22, 2025, 04:35:56 PM »
Went out shed hunting, figured I'd grab a winter cam.
Bring home let it dry out, function check all that.
CAMERA STOLEN 😭
I don't want to rant to much, yet I really don't understand why people do what they do.
History here ...
I hunted one time last season, during late buck. For about three hours trying to rattle a buck in for my wife. That was the last time I checked camera. Over the past few years I've had maybe a handful of hunters on it. Average about one hunter a year finds it.
I've never have or had a problem with anyone hunting it. Public land and all. I put salt block, attractant, what not. I guess it just kills people to know what's on the camera. Rant over.

If the people responsible are on this site. Thanks for leaving my lock box. I won't be setting up there, or be putting any attractant for anyone any more .

Terrible luck these days,no sheds , another camera gone.
Wife is pissed, seems all the cameras she has bought me as gifts .
People like to steal.
If I had some photos to share with HW,I would .
They steal from all of us.

Did you have a lock on the box?
You shouldn’t have to lock it, just curious.

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies

If religion never existed on earth would Iran and Israel still be shooting at each other?

We all own the tree, like stated public land.
No worries, lag bolts will be removed soon.
When I'm able to access without hiking in, road is still snowed in.
I walked in to access , didn't bring tools to remove .
Only cams I leave for winter soak are in lockboxes.
With the current proposal statewide bait ban, I've been pulling setups anyway. Removing my junk from the woods.

I usually had a old junky camera in the box,had just replaced with a stealth cam. Cause I was getting crap night pics. Pretty sure it had an empty card during late buck. So reality is they probably didn't get a lot of pic depending on when it was stolen.
Also not a spot I'd consider a big buck spot. Just a good spot to pickup a meat buck.
Not sure why they cut the lock, probably easier to cut the chain link.
Yes there was a lock, the old bullet proof ,cheap master lock.

I still have two cams out, that are snowed in. Probably be pulling those as well. I'll update then after we melt off.
See if those are stolen as well.

spend a little extra and get a $100 cam to watch the cam. Mount it high out of direct view. You would be suprised how good it works.

Ya ,I won't be investing anymore money on cameras.
With the new bait laws ,my trail cam hobby has ended.
I only have one winter camera to retrieve,I'm in no hurry to get it.
Now guys will steal your cams on game trails. Since there are only so many game trails, water holes, ect. I'm just gonna hunt without cams for the most part.
Most likely my last year hunting Washington.

People suck.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Having your stuff messed with on public or backcountry is bad enough, but for people to F with your stuff on private!!!!  They are too dumb to realize that there are some people out there that really would stuff you in an old stump if they caught you!!  You just don’t know everyone’s story, I don’t think Rainier is that type of guy, but I can only hope some of these dirt bag, lower than life F’s meet the wrong person the next time they mess with people stuff.  Idiots!!!

It's BS people can't just leave stuff alone. I leave a cam on or near my rig when scouting and hunting. They may mess with it, but I'll 100% know their plate numbers...  I leave cams high on spur roads if I have stands or blinds in there. It's too easy for a thief to back track to my hunt spot.

Do it a lot cheaper than that. Lotta good cams out there for $35-$40
