Coues Whitetail in Southern Arizona
« on: June 29, 2009, 10:27:38 AM »
Because I will spend most of this summer in Arizona, I will be unable to scout for elk up in WA.  I have gun hunted elk before but this would be my first year hunting archery. I'm interested in a hunt the last five or six days of the general archery season.

I see Coues white tails several times a week and thought someone whose always wanted to hunt one could swap me some elk scouting for coues scouting. Arizona offers OTC archery tags for most units and have very liberal hunting seasons (most of August for velvet hunts, nearly all of December and January for the rut).  There are also desert mule deer in the area if you'd rather go for that.  I am quite flexible and can tailor an arrangement to be mutually beneficial. We can go as far as guiding each other all day long, or down to simply circling areas on a map and noting the best times of day for certain areas.

Any takers?  :hello:

Little off topic  :P but I found a whitetail shed in Nevada one time, I would guess that it was a coues deer, we where in the Groom range outside area 51 (Rachel Nevada) mapping a section for USGS. If I guest I would say that it was a 100" buck, nice 4 pt, really sunbleached. Never hunted them, the 3 months I worked down there I only saw a couple muledeer and a bunch of snakes and spiders.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.
