Where should i hunt turkeys? Can anyone help?
« on: November 13, 2025, 09:26:59 AM »
I often see this question asked pretty much first week of April each year by those who are new to the sport. Well, RIGHT NOW is the time to "road hunt" for those places you can possibly get in come springtime~

The fall brings great advantage to turkey hunters when they bunch up for winter and come low to farm areas for food and safety. I would say that you want to pin these large groups as you drive around the state and come spring use these pins to branch out "up and behind"  in accessible mountain areas adjacent to where you see them now. Yes, some will stay close to the farm areas but most will walk miles to high grounds for the spring breeding.

Oh and one more thing, don't wait till the last minute to get your TSS ammo, especially with tariffs and China going on!

do some research. look at harvest reports from wdfw. this is what i did. dont be afraid to knock on doors and do some scouting this is what helped me. hopefully this helps. good areas can some times be hard to find your going to have to put in some work to find a area. good luck.

There's a great PLHO (Private Land Hunting Opportunity) in the valley just South of Colville. He's a really nice guy with a turkey problem. Don't bother in the spring though as the turkeys are in higher elevation, but in the fall, I saw a roost tree with inches of droppings built up below it. That would be an easy tag to fill. Help the guy out but please be respectful to perpetuate private access. Front Porch Farms I believe.

With so little snow this year the birds we saw last weekend were well into areas that they are generally in much later in the year. If we do not get a good snow in February and March, the birds may be spread out a bit different than an average year.
