Best service for estimating draw odds
« on: Yesterday at 03:51:39 PM »
I've accumulated a pile of points in multiple states that I need to start using up. I tried onX's draw odds estimator but it doesn't seem to work as expected for me.

What are some other sources that are considered accurate and reliable?

Thanks for the input.

I had Epic Outdoors for a year or two when I started building points. I never really used it though because I was so new to the game.

I've had GoHunt Insider ever since. I'd venture to say it's the best out there for DIY research. I'm on it all the time.

I do have a Huntin Fool free membership coupon if you'd like to try it out. I'm not familiar with their platform, but happy to mail it to you or send a picture of it if that will work.

OnX is good for an initial look into the units and what it took to draw. GoHunt is definitely a step above with their unit profiles. Just remember, none of them are putting out predictive draw odds, they are just putting out what the odds were for the year prior, meaning all the draw odds are out there and available for you to find if you desire.

Not entirely true, gohunt does have predictive odds now not sure if they are worth a crap but they claim they are good

GoHunt's Insider membership will get you what you need. Now is the time with their Black Friday sale; you'll get most of the investment back in credit to use in their gear shop

Thanks for the reminder. I forgot I heard that on a podcast a while back. I haven’t had a GoHunt membership in a few years, but will likely renew this Spring as I’m looking to use up some preference points. Will be interesting to see how good their predictive draw odds are.

Based on the feedback I signed up for a GoHunt membership.

Thanks!

I don't think the predictive odds on gohunt were all that accurate this past year, at least on the 5-10 hunts I watched.  But hey most guys will take them as gospel and apply accordingly so you can use that to your advantage too.

I actually decided to take advantage of the 30% off and renewed my subscription yesterday. I checked their predictive odds for 2025 against what actually happened for a few hunts I’m interested in 2026. Some were close (within a couple percent), and others weren’t even close (up to 50% off). I think, especially in preference point states, there’s just no way to estimate how many new people will jump into the draw, and how many will shift units from year to year. I do appreciate their summaries of specific units though.
