If this is around 100 years old how old are some of the 16' around Bonneville???  There are stories of larger being caught down there.  When we have fished oversize in the past we used some heavy G Loomis rods with 120 lb braided line.  24-36 oz weights and whole shad.  More work than I care for but it's great for buddies out of town.  Bring the video camera to film your buddy getting schooled by a fish.
