Skagit info for Columbia info or trip?
« on: July 05, 2009, 01:24:18 PM »
--Just seeing if any you guys from up north would be interested in swapping info or even possibly a spot on the boat for Columbia or cowlitz river salmon tips. Im very interested in the skagit river king season and am headed up completely blind. If your interested pm me, not to many people fish and know the Lower Columbia as much as me and I could definetly save you time if your interested on the big C.

I would keep fishing the southern area, I think the fishing is better.  The nets are probably going to be hitting the water up here shortly.  I grew up fishing down your way.  I would save the gas as everyone is going to try to fish the Skagit and the CR is a better fishery.  Talking current era.

--I like exploring other fishery's once in a while especially when theres a shot at a monster king. I'm just going to backtroll some plugs and divers and bait and see what happens, not to big of expectations but you never know what will bite on the big rivers. I just need to know maybe a good place to launch and get started, but as usual the first day will be more of a scouting trip!

Blake's would be a good start.  It's off of exit 221.  Towards La Conner.  I would check that out.  It's about 3/4-1 mile from the Skagit bay.  If your going to make the drive up.  The best time to hit the river would be the last week of July and the first two weeks of August.  Talked to a test netter today and he dropped the net in for 4 hours and had 6 fish in it.  It is still early.
