My boy has been shooting a recurve for a while now and I want to get him a compund bow so he can shoot this winter and maybe bow hunt next year so have been looking at good youth bows that he can shoot now at age 10 and still use it for a few years. I think it was Diamond who has a adjustable draw length and poundage that a kid can grow a bunch and still keep it. ANy ideas or experience here. I want to stay around 3-400$ and get something that is quality for target and hunting. Thanks nwhunter

There's nothing wrong with the Alpine Micro package.  I think you can trade limbs for cheap when he grows out of the lower poundage ones, and there's a ton of draw length adjustment.

I believe the diamond  bow you are thinking of is the Razor.  It does have multiple adjustments on it.  I almost got that for our boy, but my buddy came through with a deal on a browning micro adrenaline. Hoyt has the Trykon and Trykon sport for youth shooters also.

If I were to make a suggestion, it would be to make sure that the poundage is low enough that he can shoot with you and not get too tired.  The more draw length adjustment and more poundage adjustment is better.  At 10 he is going to grow quick.

My 10 year old has a Mathews Genesis that she shoots pretty well. Its amazing that it can be shot by anyone regardless the length of draw.

I got my son the alpine.And yes you can get the higher pound limbs for i think 35 or 50 bucks.Shoots great.Got it for $229 at sportsmans warehouse onsale.

One daughter has a Diamond (Edge) shooting three years, the other daughter has a Parker Buck Shot shooting two years. Both bows come as a kit ie sites, rest, quiver. Only thing I up graded was theirs sights gave them my old ones. Both bows are less than $350.00, figure about another 100 for other stuff like release, case, arrrows.

Best thing is to have your boy try a few of them an see what he likes an feels good for him.

Diamond Razors Edge draw length adjusts from 19-29" and 30-60 lbs.  Letoff is 75%.
Good shooting bow, quiet, no shock.

Another vote for the diamond razor edge.My daughter has one 11in of draw length adj. 30-60lbs they also have one that is15-30.it is a very nice bow she will be able to hunt with it for as long as she wants the ibo is 308fps not to bad.

My six year old shoots a parker buck shot and loves it.  Parker also has a program that lets you upgrade the limbs for 50 bones.  It makes it nice because you can get it all the way up to 50 pounds so you don't have to worry about spending 350-500 bucks in a few years.

I have a Seneca 130, it was my sons first bow, if you are interested let me know.

There is or was an upgrade kit for the bow (cams and string) to in crease the poundage to abut 50lbs. I never got one for it, i just got him a new bow.

Will the Diamond Nuclear Ice ($179.99 - $199.99) be too small? I saw one at a shop the other day. I was going to have my son give it a try but the whole family was there and getting antsy to leave. Razor edge ... thats what Im after.. great for ladies and kids.  The Razor edge goes 30-60# so he will have ALOT of room to grow into it.  I shot a ton of bows and that was my personal favorite plus I liked how much growth room it had in it.  I was pullin 40# when I first shot but I know I coulg gain atleast 10# given some time to build the muscle.  I would highly recomend it.

I bought my daughter the Nuclear Ice recently and she loves it.  It is her first bow and she loves to shoot it.  We added a peep and a d loop and it is one smooth shooter for her.
