MT Deer Draws are Out...
« on: July 20, 2009, 03:05:41 PM »
If you put in for a MT special deer tag, you should see the results online now...

I drew a "decent" tag.. . Lots of "nice" bucks, and a few big ones.. .Not an easy hunt, but a good one nonetheless...

Bridger Mountains, north of Bozeman. Open for 5 weeks of archery and 5 weeks of rifle... should see something good in that much time!!

Good Luck,

Ernie

Congrats that should be a pretty good tag.  Spent some time there back in the mid-80's while in school.  Rough country, not a lot get very far from the roads so you should do well.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Hornseeker,

HOw many 270 tags were given out this year?  Have you ever noticed the place is overrun with very big three points?

If I see a 30"+ 3 point this year he is going down.

MountainWalk...

270 has gone to chit :o No doubt, there are some nice bucks and it would be a good tag, but a mere shadow of what it was 3-5 years ago... really sad.... I haven't noticed the 3 point problem...but it doesn't surprise me. I dont know how many they gave out this year, but it was going to be a lot less than last year...

I may get 12-15 days into this tag Doug... maybe more.... we'll see... I am hearing to hit it hard opening weekend of archery as the bucks aren't quite ready yet... there is some good climbing to be done in there and I really dont expect to see another archery hunter... 125 tags total for the range....and there is lots of country....

I'm feelin gthe heat from just my overnighter.  I can't imagine what my fall is going to be like.  May just come pitch a tent in your hood and photograph some of those deer or goats over there.  Spend two weeks in the Bacon with the lens.  YAHOO!

I'd go 26 inches with the longbow.   :)  That is if he had some mass.

I didn't get drawn for 261 or 270.  General hunt for me.  Headed over on Thursday to do some scouting.  I wish they would draw the 'lope tags before I go so I can scout that too...

OK, I can quit whining now...  Big, fat "Not Successful" for the 'lope tags...  :'( Oh well, I can't complain too much.  I think I used up all my luck getting drawn for the Deer A Combo to begin with... :chuckle:

Did not draw a special elk or deer, this will be my first time hunting Montana, I will be in the bitterroots and maybe might drive up to Glasgow, I will be staying in Darby to start with, I hope I can at least kill a decent buck.
