Cabelas Outfitter Fleece?
« on: August 03, 2009, 12:41:49 AM »
Anybody own any of this stuff?  The reviews are awesome for it, but I can't seem to find any specs for weight on the stuff... is it pretty lightweight and will it pack down small into a stuff sack for headin to the backcountry for a week or so?  Thanks!

Michaelj, I have been drooling over a couple of the outfitter articles, the windshear parka specifically. I have checked them out at the lacey cabellas, they are a bit bulky, relatively light as stuff goes, would probably compress ok.... The only problem I have is with the price. That pullover I want is about $190...  :'(

Check cabelas Bargain cave.... there's lots of fleece in there.  I'm looking at the non windsheer version/non hooded version that will be a sept backcountry garment, as well as something for later in the year... if I get into super cold I'll wear my RW jacket over the fleece, but I think I can get their non hooded full zip jacket for $60 out of the bargain cave right now!  Also need some underarmour and they have a super nice down vest on sale for $25 that would be awesome for the backcountry... lol

I have a couple of the pullovers.  They are lightweight and warm.  Good for layering.  They compress down pretty well.  Good stuff.

Well thanks guys!  Just put in an order for a Large Cabelas Outfitter fleece, only paid $60 for it instead of the regular $80, also bought a cabelas down vest, and a cabelas "X-tech" medium weight upper... (kind of an under armour knockoff, I really couldn't push myself to pay $40 for a T-shirt type garment, just need something to keep my dry and be a good base layer)!  My buddy also bought a pair of the kings camo hunting pants... with shipping we only paid $140 so not too bad!  Here's some links to what I bought:

I bought the wooltimate top and bottoms last year and love everything about them EXCEPT how bad they pick up burrs and things like that.  I laid down in a wheat stubble field one evening and stood up looking like a porcupine.  I spent hours picking that stuff out of my clothes.

--I got a cabelas coat with windshear and had to take it back! Way to loud! It sounds like a bean bag when you walk! If your not moving and on stand it would be a good coat but if your on the move I wouldnt get it!
