Shangri-La 4 and wood stove

I finally got my whole set-up put together:  Go-Lite Shangri-La 4+, Kifaru-style "small" stove built by Ed Tyanich, Titanium Goat stove jack, pipe, damper, and screen.  First burn this afternoon went well.  Looking forward to a light weight camp miles from the truck.  2 1/2 lbs. for the stove and pipe; 2 1/2 lbs. for the tent.  Using 96 lb. sturgeon leader for guy lines, which is smaller and lighter than any rope I have.

Cool set up, I had the shagri-la 3 and sold it b/c my feet and head hit the walls, I'm 6-5. I thought about doing the same exact thing you have. Are you going to do the floor?  How many do you think this will sleep? Real size guys, not midgets

  very nice set up. I am using the MSR twin sisters, I wish I had the stove port. I have checked out the goat stove and love it.
I thought of making a port hole for the stove, but, know I would manage to screw it up

NW GSP, $225 for the tent; $45 or so for the stove jack; $20 for the sewing; $150 for the stove; $160 for the pipe, damper, and screen.  The pipe set-up cost me more than anticipated.

Actionshooter, I had planned on 2, but may have 3.  With 3 we will add a tarp to stow gear and perhaps sit under by a fire.  I had myself and my dog in it on a scouting trip and we had tons of room.  3 and a stove will be tight and hard with all our gear, especially if its wet.  With 3, I think we need to be more diligent to protect our sleeping bags from wall condensation that will form during the night.  I'm not anticipating a floor, but will use Tyvek-type house wrap under the sleeping pads/bags.

Tonymoe, I am very happy with the stove jack.  They design it well.  It has a small flap on the outside to add a bit more protection to the "up-hill side" of the tent and a small strip on the top edge for better rain protection.

Tonymoe, if you decide to add a stove jack, I would suggest having Laurie Cantonwine doing the sewing.  She is in Vancouver and used to do all of REI's sewing before they changed to a shop that had a storefront. She still sews outdoor gear and has done a nice job on every piece of torn and broken gear I've taken her. If interested, I'll get you her contact information.

Ya it is, you can buy the jacks from Ti-Goat and a couple fo other sources.

Laurie Cantonwine's business is Outdoor Garments and Gear, her number is 360-254-9098.  Usually takes about 10-14 days to get gear back because she has lots of work.  Ti-Goat's stove jack is pretty slick, but not cheap.  I've read of other guys using various materials to create their own.  I have some sheet asbestos on a roll, but I'm glad I paid for Ti-Goat's.  They've added a few features that experience has taught them.

The photo below shows the small flap that adds additional protection to the high-side of the tent.  The outside trim is velcro for attaching the raincover when not using the stove.  On the top of the jack is a small velcro strip sewn to the tent to increase the weather protection by covering the top velcro "seam" when the rain cover is on.  (The perspective makes the pipe look outrageously long; its not.)

Inside view of the stove jack.  Spent some time with Laurie deciding how to place the jack so as to maintain the Go-Lite's seam integrity.  And I wanted the jack just off-center because I want the stove just off-center to avoid the tent's center pole.
