The new 2008 harvest report for elk is out

This time it is by how many points the animal had.
Gathering is easy. Hunting is a challenge.

Why does it say 2008 but when you click on a species it says 2007? :dunno:

yeah Im not a fan of the numbers either... Seems like they dont want us to know what the success rate was.......... :tdown:

I have not seen it yet, but holy crap why does it take soooooo looooong to get this out???
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

It says 107,000 elk tags sold but only 70,800 elk hunters????  Huh?   :dunno:

I guess they are saying 37,000 folks bought tags and didn't hunt.

Or they didnt draw there eastside bull tag and went to idaho.

only 70,800 reported
So 36200 did not report, sounds like alot but i guess thats possible.

If you use the 2007 hunter count, you get an idea of the number of hunters +/- 10%
In going back a few years, only when there is some big change in the regs or environment do the number of hunters change much.
