Map of Elk Area 3911
« on: December 14, 2007, 09:59:28 AM »
I am looking for a map of elk area 3911.

If anyone has one I could borrow it and take it down and make a copy. I live in Puyallup.

Any help would be great. The hunt master for the area is all out and I have not had success finding one any where else.

Thanks

Mark

If you find a good one let me know. I have a few of the LC maps and they aren't the clearest. That was awhile ago maybe the quality has changed. The best thing you can do is take a day, burn some fuel and drive the unit where you can. I did that with some forest service maps and the Gezetteer and it helped a lot.

I wish these "Hunt Masters" were a little more prepared. I know they are volunteers but c'mon.

I wouldn't want steve's job for a decent pay. the thing about the area is that there is only 8-10 decent sized pieces of public land to hunt, and the elk are on that public land about 10% of the time. I would take a drive and bang on some doors.....that is gonna get you into more elk. most guys want to go look in the "elk country", fact is more elk are in the valley and pockets of private land on the edges of the hills. you might do ok in the timber on any day, but if you can find the pockets that are private you can do well every day

I was there this weekend and couldn't find a cow...i Walked out four elk tracks for a few miles and found the bulls that made them.  That was a lot of fun and worth it, but i was hoping one would be a cow!
I also cut two different lion tracks and two bobcats...CATTY spot.
I passed on a 50 yd shot a coyote...i was still hopeful that an elk would walk by. :bash:
