Talk about a shame!!
« on: September 02, 2009, 03:26:58 PM »
So I work out at Rainier School in Buckley, and behind the campus is a large field that a local farmer uses for growing feeder corn.  The state owns the land and has it posted "NO HUNTING NO TRESPASSING".  I know this because I was there when they hung the signs.  This year there is a huge 5X5 and a nice little 3X3 out there running cows.  Every year there are idiots that go out there and hunt walking right past the clearly posted signs. :bdid:  Last year while I was at work we reported to the DFW that people were hunting back there.  The game wardon came out and wrote a couple tickets, but in no way did this slow anyone else from going in there.  I'm kind of glad that nobody took anything from there but damn, how can people be so stupid?  Sorry if I am going a little long I just had to vent!! :bash:

No big deal.  The WDFW and their "fines" are a joke.  In order for a penalty or punishment to be effective it has to be heavy or  harsh enough to dissuade people from their intended actions.  As of now the penalties are far to slight to match the crimes.  If the WDFW wants to get serious about stopping poaching, and property/road violations they need to increase the penalties.  Until then this stuff will happen all the time.

Well...Id hate to agree or disagree but Id probably be willing to risk a 50$ ticket for a excellent chance at a 5x5

not saying its right...just saying the fines gotta make it not worth it to most people!!

Thats just it!  Most of us would see a sign that says no hunting and hunt somewhere else.  So you get a few jerks that go out and ruin it.  I remember a few years back some guy shot a big bull out on the Buckley straits and got arrested.  I guess you have to kill something to actually get in trouble.  Pretty *censored*ty if you ask me!!

Just look at all the "closed roads" around the Yakima/Ellensburg area.  THere are ATV tracks all over them.  Why because the fine is so pathetic that who cares if you get caught.  THerefore guys do it.  Now lets say the penalty jumped up to you lost your ATV I guarantee you you'd see alot less tracks up there.

No I work their, I have the Keys and I'm authorized to go in, Who are you and who gave you the right to post Public Property? Allot of the Guys that hunted  had permission from WSU to be there , when the DSHS took back over anti hunting administration had it Posted because of people like you falsifying reports and telling down right Lies. them 80 year Old Guys sitting down on the river bed with muzzleloaders weren't hurting No one, and in no way is it endangering anybody or anything, Now if you Work there you Know who I am, Ive been off for a couple of weeks for Heart Surgery and will be back in 4, You come down to the WWTP  or the Water Plant and we can discuss it further, Who are you again? I still believe that State Land is the property of the citizens, Not the property of the State.  Shame on you.

I have hunted it back in the day before it had no trespassing signs, I had permission from the WSU guys and the only thing about it was we werent allowed to hunt the field but that is the olny way to get into the river bottom. Now its been huntable like this for many many years and now that there are signs. You may still have those that believe because they have hunted it for twenty plus years that they still have the right. Oh and miles I believe Huntnphool and Slider have the Popcorn smiley you are looing for!  :chuckle:

how much is a 'closed road' ticket?

by the way, i dont have an atv, or motor bike, I was just curious what they are geting slapped with.

Also, does anyone have the wardens number for the ellensburg area? I will be making some calls if I see anyone on closed roads this elk season.

Better get that cell phone battery fully charged, you'll be doing alot of calling and I don't mean to the elk.   :(

On National Forest lands, the signs I've seen posted by the USFS say "No Motorized Vehicles - $100 Fine"

Yep. 100 bucks. I got one about 3 or 4 years ago for parking about 20' past a "no unauthorized vehicles beyond this point" sign at Tim's ponds by the feeding station.  Its also a mandatory court appearance. As far as the trespassing ticket, $50 sounds really low. I talked to a guy one time while I was hunting in Goldendale who got one and he told me it was about $500 if I remember right. Maybe different counties different fines.  :dunno:
