Put a tape on the bull tagged with the "insentive" tag
« on: September 05, 2009, 12:31:14 AM »
Had a guy swing by the shop today, not sure what his name was.
Anyways, he had been selected for the state wide insentive tag for elk, opened for him sept 1st with any weapon...
Anyways, lucky guy! i should have snapped a picture. he had a 6x9 that i grossed around 350..what a tag to have!  He probably pick a bull a little sooner then most would have with that tag, but he was all smiles so congrads to him!

Anytime you can take a 350 class bull in WA, you do it.  Sounds like a great bull!

I have a couple pics.  I saw it in the Spokofuel parking lot.  He took it in the Colockum.  I was waiting a few days to post in case he was a member here.

wow...cool bull with a lot of character.

nothing against nothing, but i don't think i'd be hunting the colockum if i had the opportunity to hunt anywhere in the state with a bull tag...but that's just me.

The last few years I have seen some dandy bulls (3 at 350+)...all from the Colockum.  This is an awesome bull.  I can't wait for tomorrow, one week of the hunting the biggest "true spike" I can find.

Great looking bull. I would take him in a heart beat. Just think if that bull had some big thirds?

I think if we could see the elks face and snout it would give us something to measure it against.

Dude , Take it easy man. You dont gain much inches on mass, its mainly tine length man, tine length. The thirds are basically  nonexistent and his beams look short. Now that extra is pretty long and probably makes up for some inches. But like I said the picture probably dont do him justice, I never said it wasnt a 350 bull just dont look like it. Oh , and if you want to see a 350 bull I can probably pull up some pictures somewhere.  If you get eastmans archery magazine look on the cover of that newest issue, that bull has the mass and way longer tines all the way around, its just over 350.

The difference between 350 and 370 is 1.5" per tine, and that ain't much in the grand scheme of elk racks.  Look at the 370 in BL's avatar and there's a world of difference between his and this bull.  350 is plausible on this bull, though because of the extra tines and the fact that Matt said he put the tape to it; I trust both and will call it 350.

Looks like the same game cart I have.  1" square tube, using that for size comparison as it is close to the same distance from the lens, that bull has some NICE mass.  Way to go.  Hope I harvest one comparable on Tuesday up in the Taneum.

I didnt think he looked 350 either.. i came up with 348, but could be off a couple inches either way.. realisticly the bull is a 370 bull on his one side and a 320 bull on his other side.. so it throws you off.

Risking sounding like a dork I have to ask, what the hell is the insentive tag?

Nice bull!  At least that is one the Indians won't get to shoot this year.  (oops did I just say that?)  :dunno:

An incentive tag is a lottery tag.  If you get your hunter's report in within 10 days of a kill or by January 10th??, you get put into a drawing.  I belive you get to hunt either deer or elk from Sept 1st through Dec 31st in any open unit with any weapon.

Dandy bull, would be hard to pass with any tag in your pocket I'd bet.  I just pray to the lord in heaven he did not use that motersickle in his pursuit of that regal creature. (said with tongue in cheek and a huge roll of the eyes.)
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
