Ok I just picked up the gun. The trigger isn't bad at all but I do have some questions.

What do you guys use to clean the guts? I'm thinking hoppe's no. 9 and q-tips.

There is a swivel mount mounted on the magazine tube but it is just basically c shaped and can slide along the entire tube up to
the hardware that connects the tube and barrel. What's up with this?

It also has a beat up armsport 4x32 waterproof scope. I plan on removing this and the side mounted scope mount. Do I need to put the scope mount hardware back into the side of the receiver?

What do you guys use for tlc on the furniture?

I don't see using my otis cleaning kit to clean the bore and barrel so what do you guys use?

If anyone wants the scope mount from this gun pm me. It mounted on the side of the receiver and I will provide the 3 screws for it. They are specific to this mount I'm guessing by the way they sit flush down in the mount. Comes with the scope for free if anyone wants it.

Winchester Model 88's are my gun passion!  Have them all but the .358.  Anyone have one to sell? :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:  Even have a .260 custom made.  The original one I was handed down was a .308.  Shoots sub MOA - It's a good one!

Tried the Sako and it just wasn't the same.

I don't like the pitting on the receiver one bit. The previous owner abused this gun and I want to make her shine again. Is there anyone that does good work for what I need on the wetside? I heard of a guy in lacey that works out of his house. Any good reviews from you guys?

Interesting how many Marlin 444s there are out there. I was thinking I was an oddball..
Here's my inventory of lever guns:
1) Marlin 336 in 30-30
2) Marlin 1895 Guide gun in 45-70
3) Marlin 1894 in 44 mag
4) Marlin 1894P (16" ported barrel) in 44 mag
5) Marlin 444P (ported barrel)
6) Henry Golden Boy 22LR (just acquired and have yet to shoot)

Someone was asking about iron sights. I have tried a lot of different combinations and have settled on the best configuration that works for my aging eyes. I use a red fiber optic front sight with a Skinner aperture sight on the rear sight. Works great in all situations except for low light. I plan to outfit all my lever guns with this arrangement except the 30-30 which has a scope and the Henry. I've tried the XS ghost ring sights but just don't find them as accurate as the Skinner sights. But hey, that's just me.

Got a winchester model 94 30-30 great brush gun.  And also a winchester model 88 chambered in .308 with a scope on it.  The 88 is one awesome deer rifle.

I've still got my mom's pre 64 model 94 32 spec. that I shot my first deer with in Oregon many years ago, probably 1960. Stays in the safe. Also have 2 Marlin 94's, 357/38special that have action jobs, use them for Cowboy Action but wouldn't be afraid to use for blacktails.

Win. model 94 Trapper 357mag
Win. model 9422
Win. model 9422 high grade

Lever guns are like Potato chips, you can't just have one.  :)

I still need a Win. Trapper in 45L/C to complete my set.
