Roadkill!!!
«

Here's some pics of a super buck hit by a car a couple years ago on Blewitt Pass. The DOT guys picked him up and some one emailed me the pics. I posted them at the time on MM. I never did find out what they did with it.

That buck kind of resembles Garrets dads buck from 06.

I cant believe the person that hit it didnt decap him. Must have been one of those old ladies I get stuck behind every time I drive over that highway.

Oh they did cape it....well that is my guess on the true end result. That is a DOT guy and the deer was actually alive for a while (when reported) laying just past a "Deer" warning sign. It died from when it was reported and the DOT showed up. The second photo is in the Wen. DOT shop. When questioned about where the deer went the two DOT guys claimed to have dumped it in one of the winter kill pits. The same pit they drove by to get from where it was picked up to get back to the shop for more photos. Game guys went right out and what do you know no deer. Must have been the "Big Foot" living in the area pulled it out for winter meat. The last I heard the deer still has not shown up. My opinion is that it was a legitimate road kill with witnesses so not a major deal. I just hate the fact they lied (my opinion only) on what they did with it. Worst case the state would have it mounted and displayed, but not let them keep it if they fessed up to where it is. Now that they have lied about it if it is ever found they will probably been in trouble.

Too bad.....it had to go out like that, and too bad no one knows where it's at, or what happened to it.

I believe I know what happened to the tripod buck...I never saw him after the 2003 season after hunting for his sheds in 2002 relentlessly to no avail.
For those of you who know that buck as well as I do (Lowedog) check out the Feb-Mar. 2004 issue of Eastmans, pp. 40-41. I will not say the guys name on here but I did try to look him up and contact him to show him pictures of that buck before he shot him. I believe his lives on the Westside of the state and has no clue as to what a legend that buck was in the valley. I used to call him the "candlestick".
Lowedog got your email awhile ago but for some reason couldn't respond on here, I'll try again. Anyways, everything went good. Should of done better but that story needs to be told in person.

I thought if you stayed around for the WSP to show up and do the report and the Fish & Game came and did their thing then you could keep it if you requested. Also, if noone was there to claim the game then it was to go to F & G. DOT has no business in making the claim or disposing of it. Those 2 guys that said they dumped it should have been fired. IMO
