High hunt 09 buck
«
on:
September 22, 2009, 02:49:06 PM »
6 days in the wilderness and we were able to harvest two decent bucks. My buddy got a decent little 4x4 and I got a good sized 3x. We saw lots of game, some deer, some bear, and several legal bucks. We blew a few stalks, and made a few successfull ones.
One that got away (through 10x bino's at 870 yards).
One that didnt.

Few more pics since I finaly figured out the whole Personal album, upload bit. I must get on 5 different boards and this one is by far the most difficult to manage your pics on.

Great job - that's a pretty big 3 point.
I like those other pics, as well. The picture going across that face is really cool. It looks like steep country.

Congrats on your success! To bad there was no blue berries to eat! Let's see some more pics from the hunt and your buddy's buck.

Great job. Awesome pics and thanks for posting the photos. They were neat to look at. I have always wanted goats for packing. I don't think the CCR's in Browns Point will go for it though.

I wont post a pic of my buddies buck. All the pics have his mug and I haven't asked him.
People are always interested in the goats, where they will go, and what they will pack. This is about the worst terrain I have a pic of. They do this stuff easily.
They eat what deer eat, and can pretty well go where deer go. In easy terrain and in shape they can carry 35 to 40 pounds. In rough terrain we pack ours with 20 to 30 pounds. It all depends on terrain, distance, and physical condition.
Goats travel at goat walking speed. If you try and make them go faster they will tire quickly. Then they lay down and refuse to go. If your willing to slow down a little and smell the flowers they are a joy to have. They are tame like dogs, and each have their own distinct personalities. They grow on you.

goats are awesome in the high country, more and more people are using them. I have had the same experiences as you, about 35# and take it easy on them and they will pack all day. I've had them in places where I'm on my hands and knees and I'm in thier way!
