Very true there snowman.  I had pulled up a few years back when all the guys were on the firing line and a groupd of closer geese at 70 yards flew over.  One of the geese ended up going through the front windshield of one of the trucks parked in the parking lot.  I ended up leaving as pellets were raining down on everyones rigs.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Yep raining pellets, forgot about that one as I should know, had my windshield cracked because of it. A lot of the hunting up there is treading on the Verge of trespassing. Quality units to me are a joke. You get the all these areas an half the guys never come hunt. They did start a day use units, in which I believe there is 4. One of which backs to the dike that evryone sits on LOL. Best bet is to take 1 texas rag set it out an find a ditch to sit in your "Quality Unit" an look like a blob of dirt an wait to see if you even get a chance to shoot. Now remember this last year they gave out over 3,000 permits an this year they are over the counter permits. Now L's place can be good but the same there. They line up there rigs down the road to the dike an sit 50yds. back off them an wait for them to pick up out of the reserve an again high shooters, front line shooters. Now don't get me wrong I have shot a lot of birds there but just not my kind of goose hunting. I like to be where when they come in 10ft maybe 15ft up off the ground 15yds out or less and then  :hunter: Blammo 3 shots 2 dead birds an oh yeah your dog gets to retrieve your birds.

Hopefully it will snow like mad again this year...those birds were more than willing to land in any field with a green patch in it last year...it was almost unfair... :'(

We used some large pieces of the green indoor / outdoor carpet and placed snow decoys on them.  The geese would try landing on the carpet.  Funny stuff.

That is a great idea...we just went out early and burnt some calories clearing a 10'x10' area in a field...its amazing how many birds think they can land in 100 square feet of frozen grass...
