Thanks
Jamie

If one of you have a picture you can post,I'd appreciate it. Then I could show my buddy what I a DE brake looks like.

I ordered mine from Shawn @ Defensive Edge... then had Mike Pallazzo install it. Took a couple days to get it in the mail, then another week or so for Mike to do the work. I know Shawn offers it in a couple different diameters to suit most factory and custom pipes, check out the website at defensiveedge.net.

Here's a picture of the break... you've seen them in action, my .300 RUM kicks about like a .25-06.

I prefer the kick to the noise. Just grin and bear it.

Ain't any difference in noise to the shooter....

Also... I can spot my own shots because the recoil is reduced significantly... can't do that with a .300 RUM that ain't broke. I can also shoot the gun about 6x more than I could if it didn't have a brake.... but I guess if I was a tough guy like you, I could just "flinch and miss it"... or was that "grin and bear it"?

after putting 25 rounds each through the 300 rum and 270 wsm I am thinks breaks might not be a bad idea. Lets just say the last 10 or so rounds were a waste of time. But I do believe the wsm hits me harder than the rum.

If you're not man enough to shoot the big boys without a brake, maybe a 243 would be better for you.   :IBCOOL:

i may not be man enough but i am smart enough to know that if a gun is not kicking the crap out of you on the range, it is a lot more enjoyable to shoot and i'd be willing to bet a lot better dialed in when you can watch the shots hit. my big boy with the brake hits me a touch harder than my 243. i'll take my pansy ass and stick with the brake, you can keep the manhood and the flinches.

Yep I will keep my manhood, and my hearing.   :chuckle:

If you're shooting without hearing protection... with, or without a brake... then you're damaging your hearing. Also, the brake doesn't make it any louder to the shooter... or to those behind the muzzle... only those off to the sides... and if you're there, it's loud without a brake too.

It doesn't have anything to do with "being a man"... it has to do with accuracy and spotting hits... period. I can shoot the rifle better with the brake... because I can practice more with the brake... and I can see what happens when I pull the trigger... instead of trying to figure out why my nose is now located directly under my right eye.

i gotta say i was a little leary about the noise before i shot mine but noticed absolutely no difference at all. i was also sidetracked by the complete lack of brutal recoil with the brake. so with my good ear protection, i will keep my hearing, i will watch my hits, i will enjoy shooting my rifle and i will take my pansy ass home at the end of the day without a beat up shoulder.

b?4 going with the expense of a brake, go buy a quality recoil pad. I did this for my 06 and my 45-70. Bought what Josh recommended, Limbsaver. I went to the range with my 06 and rand 20 rounds thru her without a pain one! Much cheaper than the brake and when hunting normally you don't wear hearing pro, so the recoil pad first would be a better idea.

sisu. He already has a limb saver pad. He shot my 300 RUM with the brake on it and now he wants one. The brakes that I've used have the holes all the way around and kick up debris. The defensive edge is solid on the bottom so I recomended he give one a try.

Here's a picture of the one screwed on my 300 RUM. While very effective at reducing recoil it sure kicks up dust or if resting over a stump you get rotten wood blow all over you.
