Old TC side lock strikes. Buck down
« on: October 02, 2009, 02:26:11 PM »
My buddie had been seeing a buck across the river so this morning i loaded up the canoe and we get to the pull off and start glassing the hill sides. we finally find him with about 9 does and there just feeding. we probably watch them for an hour or so trying to figure out which way there gonna go. well we figure there going to feed down into this coulee and bed down. so we head across the river in the canoe and get up the hill to this knob above them. were stalking along and see a doe and a buck but it wasnt him, was a 2 pt. so we keep walking into the canyon they walked into and im sneeking down into the coulee and not seeing any deer. As im side hilling i catch antlers 15-20 yards below me in the sage brush so i kneel down since he didnt hear or see me and crack the side lock back. hes wasnt gonna get up so i stand up and he notices movement and looks right at me still in his bed so i hold right on his neck and let er rip. end of story, dead deer. nice 3pt with an eyeguard. tagged out. my grandpa gave me the old TC pennsylvania hunter ML, my first kill with it.

To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Awesone.  Now tell me where there is a spike elk so I can get my first muzzle loader animal too.

Congrats!  Nice gun too.  I always like it more when I get a kill with my Grandpa's old hand me downs.
