Magnus Stingers

After reading (extensively) the internet and Dr. Ashby’s reports, I decided to start with Magnus 2-bladed Stinger broadheads.

They got mounted last night and shot this evening.

Was I impressed!

I had to stop shooting them at the 40 yard mark for fear – justified- of arrow damage (too many funny sounds $$$).

No tinkering, no…NONE…nada, sight adjustments whatsoever.

Pity those unsuspecting ungulates.

I put a couple in my quiver this year. Have not taken anything with them. Looking forward to some encounters during early december.

I just made the change this year from 100gr Thunderheads to 125gr Stingers with bleeders.  Of the guys I've hunted with, we seem to get very few pass-throughs on elk.  I wanted to see if I could improve my odds with a different head and wanted something sturdier.  Thunderheads are wicked sharp but seem too fragile to me.  The Stingers flew well and seem pretty durable.  I've only shot one Stinger at an animal so far, but I got a pass through and tagged a good bull .  Slightly quartering away entered ribs and exited just above the off side elbow through shoulder meat.  Was kind of fun to look at that shoulder with the cross in it when cutting meat.  Unfortunately, the lucky arrow got dropped somewhere along the pack out.  The only complaint I have is they were no where near as sharp as I'm used to with the Thunderheads, so it took a lot of time to sharpen them, there are a lot of edges on those things, 10 on each head.

Magnus makes a great broadhead and I can vouch for the stingers.  I switched to the snuffer ss this year to try something new.

Funny you say that you went to them after reading Ashby's research.  Ashby prefers a single bevel while the stingers are made with a double bevel.

I shoot magnus 2blades for 6 years now, its best head on the market. Ive shot 5 elk with them all complete pass through. I also gutted an elk with them to, didnt have a knife on me at the time. sharp as hell!

I've been using the magnus stinger for 3 yrs now and have no complaints. They've have preformed flawlessly and never let me down. I've harvested 4 deer (1 in OR.) and a cow elk and none have gone more than 60 yds. I use the four blade because I like the bleeders because the areas I hunt are fairly thick and I like the extra cutting surface for blood trial  . I think you've picked a winner. Got luck in field

Grizzly makes a 145 grain as their lightest screw-in tip. My rig was set up for 100 grain points. However, that being said, it makes a wonderful excuse to buy new shafts and begin playing for next year.

Extreme front of center weighting (19%) and single bevels are definitely in my future. The Magnus (single blade design) were as close as I could get without changing everything at the last moment. They also don't sport a tanto point (diamond bevel) My trip comes in two weeks.

Killed 4 bucks with the same stinger in the last couple years.  PLUS....an elk.(same head)   Have killed an AK moose with one as well.  I highly recommend them.

Have been using magnus for over 15 years on wood arrows and the stingers for the past 6 years. Taken 8 whitetail with them. All pass thrus. Great durable head that flies well.

They are so much better than expandable heads!

they are great heads my brother shot his buck last year with the 100g stinger buzzcut at 48 pounds and the arrow almost went threw the buck threw one rib out another and the fletches is the only thing holding the arrow up because they did not make it threw the other side ri bone at 23 yards deer went less than  40 yards top of the heart and bolth lungs great head for all bows but i really like them in the bows i have that are under 55lbs for my brother and wife and for me on my recurves
