remington 887

i currently hunt with a 870 wingmaster but am thinking about buying a new 887 for this next season anybody own this gun and have any pros or cons about it

the latest field and stream did a feature article on it and did a comparisson between it and the nova. Had some good info but cant remember off the top of my head

It looks like an awesome gun. The 870 is a practically indestructible gun but the 887 looks to be even more indestructible and *censored*!

I just wish it would come in a semi-auto. Thinking of getting it for my wife though her 20ga mossberg is getting old and just cant get the reach I'd like her to have.

A recent Gun Tests Magazine found it to be basically a POS due to BAD machining and poor workmanship.

It got a decent review from Field and Stram.  I looked at one yesterday at Wholesale Sorts.  IT seemed to be a bit more barrel heavy and skinny in the foreend than my 870, or the Benelli Nova I compared it to.  Also, it comes with an old fashioned bead instead of a fiber optic site.  I like the fiber optic site- I have a hard time finding the bead in nasty weather, for some reason.  Don't know why, never had that problem until last year.  Maybe I'm just getting old.

anyone get one of these yet?  ive been contemplating getting one,  but havnt yet.  i got scared off by the few articles written using early production models.  i did read alot of good reviews from other consumers on the internet.  anyone on hunt WA have any personal experiences?  i really like the idea of a tough waterfowl gun,  but dont want to spend 500 bux on a POS either.

I just picked up an 887 couple of weeks ago.  Only been out with it a couple of times now but so far I like it.  It is a little barrel heavy compared to an 870 (my other gun), but have found no flaw in operation.  It does have fiber optic front sight with a mid-rail bead.  I really like that it is coated so i dont have to spend as much time cleaning metal to prevent rust as I am on the salty side.

I am just wondering over time if the plastic over will hold moisture. Causing them to rust. I haven't shot one one yet. But all the opinions I have heard are not good. Remington has seemed to slip.

If you let me borrow the 887 for a week I will let you know which items wear out quickly.     Worn out an 870 years back.  Tossed it in the trash can as it wasn't worth fixing.  I think my dad grabbed it back out and now it is a decoration in his shop.

picked this up today for duck/goose hunting.  might even make a stab at coyote and turkey hunting with it.  already have 2 other 870's so figured what could one more hurt.  this ones chambered in 3.5 and has a 26" barrel and was full camo for 300 dollars at walmart.  noticed when i put the sling on it though that it has a plastic loop for the sling swivel instead of a metal stud into the stock.  not sure how i feel about that, seems it might break easily.  cant wait to shoot some 3.5" shells out of it.  all my other 870's are chambered in 3".

Be carefull with the new 870's they have had some problems.

I bought one at the beginning of the season. The only problem i have had is the shells sometimes not ejecting. Other than that it has been a good gun.
