I am going to meet with an official B & C scorer from Buckley on, or after, November 12 (after the required 60 day drying out time) to have my moose scored.  After talking with him for some clarifications, I think my moose may score high enough to make the Awards level, but be just short of the All Time book.  I am extremely happy with my moose (and the hunt as a whole) no matter what it scores, but to make B & C would be an added bonus.  Thanks for all the help.

I'll score shane's bull from the pictures...

41 width
30+28 p length
8+8 points
6+6 mass
8+8 p width

Total = 143 gross and it probably nets about 3-4" less...

Also, remember they shrink Shane.  Mine was 45" when it hit the ground in width and now it's just about at 44".  The photos always were deceptive with this bull.  His head was always out in front and 3 guys were always 20 feet behind the head of the animal.  It's ok to make it look big but it gets ridiculous.  I think you should either be touching the moose or be within arm reach of the antlers.   :twocents:

Fine looking moose. If I want a measurement I just take them to the measurer. Just happens to be that I never shoot anything worth measuring but my hunting partner is a measurer for BC and PY. In case I ever change my ways from being a meat hunter to a horn hunter. You should get one to put a tape on those paddles.

If I am scoring my correctly (and I think I am pretty close)  I come up with these measurements.

Spread - 66"
Abnormal Points - Right=0, Left=1
Normal Points - Right=10, Left= 9
Width of Palm - Right=17 1/4", Left=14 1/2"
Length of Palm - Right=47", Left=53"
Smallest Circumference - Right=7 1/2", Left=7 1/2"

This gives me a net score of 221 after 10 6/8 in deductions.  This would be over the 210 minimum for the Awards level, and just under the 224 minimum for the All Time book.

After the 60 day drying out period, I will have them officially scored and see how close I actually am.  Thanks for all the help.

I didn't mean to start such a fight.  I just had a simple question on scoring moose antlers.  All I know is I had an incredible trip and was lucky enough to get a moose much bigger than I could have hoped for (we actually got two moose bigger than we could have hoped for).  Amazing trip!  Amazing moose!  Great company!  Great memories!  If the moose happens to score high, and make B & C, it would be icing on the cake.  What my moose scores (or any animal I happen to get) is not the most important thing to me.  I like to shoot big animals as much as the next hunter, but I thoroughly enjoy every trip I am able to go on.  Until I got this moose, I have never shot anything even remotely close to the record books.  If the size of every animal I shoot becomes that important too me, I don't know if I would enjoy the hunts as much anymore.  There is only one way to know the score of any animal.  Get it scored by an official scorer.

I hate seeing hunting being turned into a contest more than anything!!

Thats all i see with this bicker about a score!

This aint a basketball game boys!

I agree. It's getting old from both sides. If he says it's 160 so what?

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield
