There are only a couple bucks every year killed in 45 over 195+.  And those couple have already been shot this year.  Go find the 195 and kill him.

to kinda help get his motives across he is looking for a 190 or better typical, guess this buck was non typical so no go

There is even less 190 typicals killed in 45 every year.  The big bucks that come out of it are usually nontypicals.  But if 190 typical is what he wants, there is a chance in 45.  Its a small chance but still a chance.  I hope he does kill a 190+.

I don't know you from Adam but are you sure you know what a 170 buck looks like. I have spent some time there and never have seen lots of 170 class bucks. If you said lots of 150's I would say thats about right but lots of 170's anywhere in todays Idaho I don't know. If your right I would say keep your mouth shut and hope you get drawn again soon. You have found a honey hole.
I am hoping to see you holding a 30 plus perfect typical soon!

There are two sayings that I like....

If you want to be a successful hunter, then kill on the first day what you would kill on the last day.

If you are a trophy hunter you don't kill trophies by shooting smaller deer.

This guy knows what he wants and is sticking to it, I respect that.

I like these quotes, and from the sounds of it, JJ is a trophy hunter and is sticking to his guns.

Terry Croen killed a 203" typical out of that unit a few years back.  I  say stick with your goal, it gets better as it gets closer to the rut. This has been a good year for horn growth across the west.

Heading out for day 4.  I am in a really good couple of canyon.  About the only place you can't get a 4 Wheeler.  I am the only only guy without one, so, I am the only one hoofing it all day.  Seen one other guy that was pretty legit.  No one else is packing good glass.  I am putting on about 10 miles a day and spending hours behind tripod mounted 15's.  Saw about 30 bucks yesterday.  Heading lower today, we'll see......

i got a text message yesterday with a pic of a monster that said possible new idaho state record killed in unit 45. the text was from a friend, who's friends with a guy that knows the shooter. The shooter apparently is from bonners ferry. i don't know how to post pics from a cell phone, but if someone that knows wants to pm their cell number i'll text it to them and they can post it
